The Northern Circuit Route: Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kilimanjaro / Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Meet your personal expedition manager and guides. Overnight in a luxury hotel with briefing and gear preparation for your climb.
Day 2: Londorossi Gate to Big Tree Camp
Start your climb at Londorossi Gate. Trek through pristine rainforest with our expert guides spotting colobus monkeys and exotic birds. Settle in at Big Tree Camp with your luxury tent fully set up for comfort.
Day 3: Big Tree Camp to Shira 1 Camp
Climb gradually through heather and moorland zones to Shira Plateau. Enjoy vast views of Kibo Peak, crossing volcanic ridges in a serene and lightly trafficked route. Acclimatization is optimized for summit success.
Day 4: Shira 1 to Shira 2 Camp
Ascend across the plateau, with panoramic vistas over valleys and distant peaks. Extra time today ensures proper acclimatization, making your body ready for higher altitudes.
Day 5: Shira 2 to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
Climb high to Lava Tower (4,630m) for acclimatization lunch, then descend to Barranco Camp. This classic “climb high, sleep low” strategy boosts red blood cell production and significantly increases summit probability.
Day 6: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Conquer the Barranco Wall in the morning—an exciting yet safe scramble. Traverse ridges and valleys to reach Karanga Camp, a short rest day to recharge for Barafu Base Camp and summit night.
Day 7: Karanga to Barafu Base Camp
Move across the high alpine desert to Barafu Camp. Early arrival allows rest, hydration, and a hearty high-carb dinner in preparation for the summit attempt at midnight.
Day 8: Summit Night: Barafu to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
Begin at midnight, trekking up volcanic scree to Stella Point (5,756m), then push to Uhuru Peak—the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement with breathtaking sunrise views. Descend to Mweka Camp for overnight rest in comfort.
Day 9: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate & Departure
Enjoy an easy descent through rainforest to the park gate. Celebrate with your guides and porters, receive your official gold climbing certificate, and transfer back to your hotel or airport. A triumphant end to a premium Kilimanjaro adventure.
