3-Day July 2027 Fly-In Safari from Zanzibar to Northern Serengeti
Our 3 Days July Tanzania Private Fly-In Safari from Zanzibar is a short, focused July 2027 Great Migration safari for travellers who want to combine a Zanzibar holiday with two nights in Northern Serengeti. You fly from Zanzibar to the Serengeti, meet your private KiliPori Safaris driver-guide at the airstrip and start game viewing without using valuable safari time on the long overland journey from Arusha.
July is an important month for the Serengeti Great Migration, as wildebeest and zebra generally move north towards Kogatende and the Mara River ecosystem. The exact position of the herds varies with rainfall, grazing and water availability, as explained in our guide to how the Great Wildebeest Migration works.
With only three days available, we keep the itinerary entirely focused on Northern Serengeti rather than adding distant parks. You have an arrival-day game drive, a full day around the northern migration areas and another wildlife drive before flying back to Zanzibar. Our Great Migration map and monthly wildebeest locations provides useful context on typical July herd movements.
Your Serengeti game drives are private, with your own 4×4 and driver-guide. We use current wildlife information to decide where to explore rather than following a fixed route or promising a particular wildebeest location or Mara River crossing.
Why Choose This July Fly-In Safari
- Direct Zanzibar connection: Flying reduces road travel and gives you more time inside Serengeti.
- 2 nights in Northern Serengeti: Your entire safari is concentrated around the main July migration region.
- Private game drives: Your 4×4 and KiliPori Safaris driver-guide are dedicated to your booking.
- Great Migration focus: We prioritise Kogatende, the Mara River ecosystem and other productive northern areas according to current conditions.
- Full migration day: Day 2 is dedicated entirely to Northern Serengeti rather than changing camps.
- Final morning safari: Your last day still includes wildlife viewing before the return flight.
- Easy Zanzibar combination: The itinerary works well for travellers who want to add a short Serengeti safari to a Zanzibar beach holiday.

Tour Highlights
Day by Day Itinerary
Main Day Experience: Fly from Zanzibar directly to Northern Serengeti and begin your July Great Migration safari shortly after landing.
Morning flight from Zanzibar
You depart Zanzibar on a scheduled flight towards Northern Serengeti. Depending on the airline, routing and intermediate airstrip stops, the journey generally takes approximately 2.5–4 hrs.
Arrival at Kogatende
Our KiliPori Safaris driver-guide meets you at Kogatende Airstrip with your private 4×4 safari vehicle. Your game drive can begin directly from the airstrip.
Afternoon migration safari
Depending on your arrival time, we spend approximately 3–4 hrs exploring Northern Serengeti. Your guide uses current wildlife information to search for wildebeest and zebra concentrations while also taking time for other wildlife.
July around Kogatende
July generally brings increasing migration activity into Northern Serengeti, but herd locations can change from day to day. We therefore adapt the game drive to actual conditions rather than following a predetermined route.
Main Day Experience: Dedicate a full private safari day to the July Serengeti Great Migration, exploring Kogatende and the Mara River ecosystem.
Morning migration search
After breakfast, we begin approximately 3–4 hrs of morning game viewing. Your guide chooses areas based on recent herd movements and wildlife activity.
Mara River exploration
When conditions make it worthwhile, we explore accessible areas around the Mara River. Large wildebeest and zebra herds may gather around the wider ecosystem during July.
A Mara River crossing cannot be guaranteed or scheduled. Instead of spending the entire day waiting at one crossing point, we balance migration tracking with other worthwhile Northern Serengeti wildlife experiences.
For travellers considering whether a short safari provides enough migration time, our guide to how many days you need for a Great Migration safari explains the advantages of different safari durations.
Picnic lunch & break
We stop for lunch and time outside the vehicle before continuing. Because your safari is private, the timing can respond to wildlife conditions rather than a shared group's schedule.
Afternoon wildlife viewing
We continue for approximately 2–3 hrs, searching for migration herds while also watching for lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes and other resident wildlife.
Main Day Experience: Enjoy a final morning searching for July migration activity before flying from Northern Serengeti back to Zanzibar.
Morning game drive
After breakfast, we enjoy approximately 2–3 hrs of wildlife viewing, depending on your confirmed flight time. The route is planned to keep us within practical reach of Kogatende Airstrip.
Final Great Migration search
We explore areas showing worthwhile activity that morning. Because wildebeest can move between grazing areas, your final game drive may offer different conditions from the previous day.
Transfer to Kogatende
We gradually continue towards Kogatende Airstrip for your scheduled departure. Transfer distance and time vary according to your camp location and the route taken during the morning game drive.
Fly back to Zanzibar
You board your scheduled flight from Northern Serengeti to Zanzibar. Depending on routing and intermediate stops, the flight generally takes approximately 2.5–4 hrs.
Your 3 Days July Tanzania Private Fly-In Safari from Zanzibar ends on arrival in Zanzibar after two nights focused entirely on Northern Serengeti and the July Great Migration.
