After breakfast, continue climbing through the forest as the vegetation gradually becomes thinner and the landscape opens into heath and moorland. The route gains elevation across ridges and rolling terrain, revealing increasingly wide views of Kilimanjaro's slopes and the surrounding wilderness. As you move toward the Shira Plateau, the air becomes cooler and the scenery more exposed, with giant heathers and unusual high-altitude plants appearing along the trail. This is a demanding trekking day, so maintaining a comfortable pace and drinking water regularly are important. By reaching Shira 2 Camp, you will have entered a striking high-altitude landscape that prepares you for the next stages of your 7-day Lemosho Route climb.

On this day's trek takes you across the Shira Plateau toward Lava Tower, an impressive volcanic formation rising above the surrounding landscape. The trail passes through high-altitude desert terrain, with expansive views of Kilimanjaro's rugged slopes and the changing colours of the mountain. Reaching Lava Tower at around 4,600 metres provides a valuable acclimatization opportunity before you descend toward Barranco Camp. Although the descent brings you to a lower sleeping elevation, the day is physically demanding and helps your body adjust to the altitude. Along the way, you may see giant groundsels and lobelias that give the upper mountain its distinctive appearance. Barranco Camp sits beneath towering cliffs, offering dramatic scenery as you prepare for the next day's climb.

Begin the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall, a steep rocky section that requires careful footing and occasional use of your hands for balance. Your mountain guides will help you negotiate the route safely and steadily. From the top, enjoy sweeping views of the valleys and surrounding ridgelines before continuing across a series of ascents and descents toward Karanga Camp. The trail passes through an impressive alpine landscape, where vegetation becomes sparse and the mountain's volcanic character is increasingly visible. Although this stage is shorter than some previous days, the uneven terrain and altitude still require patience. At Karanga Camp, rest, hydrate, and enjoy your meal while preparing for the final approach to the summit zone.

We continue our private Kilimanjaro climb from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp, our base for the final summit attempt. The trail crosses dry, rugged terrain with limited vegetation, and the landscape becomes increasingly rocky as we approach the high-altitude summit zone. We maintain a slow and consistent pace because conserving energy is essential for the challenging hours ahead. After arriving at Barafu Camp, we eat, hydrate, and organize our warm clothing, headlamps, gloves, and other equipment for the night climb. We aim to get as much rest as possible before an early start, knowing that the next stage will take us toward Stella Point and, ultimately, Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres.

This is the biggest day of our 7-day private Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route climb. We normally begin around midnight, wearing our warmest layers and using headlamps to navigate the dark trail. The ascent is slow and demanding, and I guide the group step by step across steep volcanic scree toward Stella Point on the crater rim. At this altitude, cold temperatures and reduced oxygen can make every step feel difficult, so we take the climb patiently and monitor everyone's condition closely. As dawn breaks, the mountain scenery becomes unforgettable, with changing colours across the sky and views of the glaciers and surrounding landscape. From Stella Point, we continue along the crater rim toward Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 metres. Reaching the summit is a remarkable achievement, and we take photographs and celebrate according to the conditions and time available. Afterward, we descend carefully to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing to Mweka Camp. It is a long day, but with steady pacing, teamwork, and attention to safety, we work toward completing this extraordinary Kilimanjaro summit experience.

After breakfast, we begin our final descent through the beautiful montane forest toward Mweka Gate. Following the demanding summit day, I encourage climbers to take their time, watch their footing, and enjoy the feeling of completing the mountain portion of their Tanzania adventure. The forest becomes greener and thicker as we descend, and the warmer air offers a welcome contrast to the cold summit conditions. Some sections can be muddy or slippery, so we continue carefully until we reach the gate. Here, we complete the park exit procedures and receive summit certificates in accordance with park arrangements. We say goodbye to our mountain crew, whose work has supported the climb from the first day, before transferring to Arusha for a shower, a comfortable bed, and time to recover. After breakfast in Arusha, your Kilimanjaro and Serengeti safari continues as we travel toward Northern Serengeti National Park. Depending on your confirmed package arrangements, we can make the journey by road or use a flight to an appropriate Serengeti airstrip. On arrival, I begin introducing you to the wildlife and landscapes that make this region famous for its Great Migration river crossing safari. 

During our game drive, we look across open grasslands and along riverine habitats for wildebeest, zebras, giraffes, elephants, and predators such as lions and hyenas. If the migration herds are in the area, we pay attention to their direction of movement and the locations where they may gather near the Mara River. I always explain that river crossings happen on the animals' own schedule, so we observe patiently rather than promise a particular sighting. Later, we head to your selected camp or lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, surrounded by the atmosphere of the African wilderness.

We start early to make the most of the cooler hours, when wildlife is often active across the Northern Serengeti plains. During this private Serengeti safari, I use current wildlife movements and local knowledge to help determine which areas are worth exploring. Our main focus is the Great Migration, particularly the enormous herds of wildebeest and zebras that may gather near the Mara River during the crossing season. Sometimes the animals approach the riverbank and wait; at other times, they move away before a crossing begins. 

This unpredictability is part of the natural experience, and we give the herds space while observing their behaviour. If a crossing occurs while we are in the area, we may witness animals entering the water and navigating the current, with crocodiles and other wildlife nearby. Between migration searches, we also look for resident animals across the plains and woodlands. After a full day of exploration and photography, we return to camp to relax and discuss the day's sightings over dinner.

This day  gives us another opportunity to explore Northern Serengeti and follow the movement of the wildebeest migration. Having an additional day in the region means we are not relying on one game drive to find the herds, because their location can change with rainfall, grazing conditions, and seasonal movement. After breakfast, we head out with our private safari guide and explore the river areas, open plains, and wildlife corridors according to the latest sightings. We may encounter elephants moving between feeding areas, giraffes browsing on trees, large herds of antelopes, or predators resting after a night of hunting. When migration activity is promising, we can spend more time observing the herds and waiting at a suitable viewpoint near a potential river-crossing area. I encourage guests to bring binoculars and cameras, as distant wildlife and sudden changes in animal behaviour can make the experience especially rewarding. We return to camp after the game drive, giving you time to relax and enjoy another evening in the Northern Serengeti wilderness.
