Your Mount Kilimanjaro adventure begins with the journey from Moshi to Marangu Gate, where the mountain crew completes the park registration before we enter the rainforest. This is where the seven-day private Kilimanjaro climb via Marangu Route truly begins, with a trail surrounded by towering trees, thick vegetation, moss-covered branches and the sounds of forest birds.
As we follow the shaded path, I will set a comfortable pace that allows you to enjoy the forest without using too much energy during the first hours of the climb. Keep an eye on the trees because black-and-white colobus monkeys sometimes move through the canopy, offering a wonderful introduction to the natural environment of Kilimanjaro National Park.
The trail gradually climbs towards Mandara Hut, where the cool forest atmosphere provides a peaceful place to rest after the first trekking stage. Once we arrive, you can settle in, enjoy your mountain meal and prepare for the transition from rainforest to open mountain vegetation on the following day.
