Your driver-guide will plan the day's route according to wildlife movement, recent sightings and seasonal conditions rather than simply following the same circuit throughout the day.

Explore the open Mkata plains in search of elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and antelopes. The day's longer game-drive window also gives your guide more flexibility to search for lions and investigate quieter sections of the park.

Time can be spent around water-dependent habitats where hippos and other animals may gather, while woodland areas introduce a different mix of birds and mammals.

Mikumi's 400+ recorded bird species also make the full-day safari valuable for birdwatchers and photographers. Your guide can slow the pace when interesting behavior develops or when you need additional time for photography.

Lunch is enjoyed during the safari before continuing with afternoon wildlife viewing.

As temperatures begin to fall later in the day, continue searching the plains before returning to your accommodation for dinner and your second night near Mikumi.

Start your final morning with breakfast before returning to Mikumi National Park for another private game drive.

The morning provides a final opportunity to revisit productive wildlife areas and search for species you may not have encountered during the previous two days.

Your guide will explore selected sections of the Mkata plains, woodland margins and water sources according to current wildlife activity. Elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos and antelopes are among the animals you may encounter, while lions remain an exciting possibility.

After completing the morning game drive, leave Mikumi and begin the private journey back toward Dar es Salaam.

Stop for lunch along the route before continuing through Morogoro toward the coast. Arrival in Dar es Salaam is expected later in the day, depending on traffic and your final drop-off location.
