The 5 Days January Tanzania Private Calving Safari | Serengeti & Ndutu 2027 combines two key wildlife areas of northern Tanzania: Serengeti National Park and the Ndutu plains.
January is part of the southern phase of the Great Migration. Seasonal rainfall encourages fresh grass across the southern Serengeti ecosystem and Ndutu, attracting migrating wildebeest and zebra. Early births can occur during January, while the main concentration of wildebeest calving generally develops later in the season.

Day by Day Itinerary
Leave Arusha in the morning with your private KiliPori Safaris driver-guide and travel through the Ngorongoro highlands toward Serengeti National Park.
After entering the Serengeti ecosystem, continue toward the central region while game viewing along the way.
Central Serengeti supports resident wildlife throughout the year. Look for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras and antelopes while your guide checks productive areas for lions and other predators.
Arrive at your lodge in time to settle in after your first Serengeti game drive.

Spend a complete day exploring Central Serengeti with your private vehicle and guide.
Rather than racing south immediately, this day gives you time to search the Seronera region for resident wildlife. Riverine habitats and open grasslands provide opportunities to encounter lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes and numerous antelope species.

Your guide will look for concentrations of wildebeest and zebra according to current rainfall and grazing conditions. Because migration movements change naturally, the day's route can be adjusted according to recent wildlife information.

Day four is dedicated entirely to the Ndutu calving-season ecosystem.
Leave the lodge after breakfast and explore the plains around Lake Ndutu and surrounding grasslands. January can bring substantial wildebeest and zebra concentrations into this part of northern Tanzania as animals respond to fresh grazing.
Early calves may already be present, although travelers should understand that the most concentrated wildebeest birthing period is normally associated with February.
