Your safari begins with a morning drive from Arusha to the Central Serengeti region, approximately 350 kilometres south-west of Arusha. The journey typically takes 6 to 7 hours depending on road conditions and wildlife sightings along the way. After entering the park via Naabi Hill gate, you will head towards the Seronera area, the heart of the Central Serengeti, known for its rich grasslands and riverine forests.
The afternoon is dedicated to a game drive in Seronera, famous for its year-round abundance of wildlife including lions, leopards, elephants, and buffalo. This area’s diverse habitats provide excellent opportunities to observe predators and their prey in the classic Serengeti plains. Expect to spend 3 to 4 hours exploring the mosaic of acacia woodlands, kopjes, and open plains.
This first day offers a balanced pace suited to travellers keen to settle into the Serengeti environment while enjoying prime game viewing. The drive introduces the vastness of the ecosystem and sets the tone for the wildlife-focused days ahead.
As the sun sets, you’ll return to your accommodation near Seronera for dinner and overnight rest, preparing for the next day’s journey deeper into the western corridor of the Serengeti.
