Your safari begins with a transfer from Zanzibar to the Western Serengeti, entering the Grumeti Reserve for an afternoon game drive. After arriving by flight into the mainland, you will be driven to the reserve, covering approximately 100 kilometres. Travel times vary depending on road conditions and wildlife stops along the way.
The Grumeti Reserve is known for its rich savannah landscapes and resident populations of elephants, lions, and giraffes. The afternoon game drive typically lasts 3 to 4 hours, offering a great introduction to the diverse wildlife and bird species of this less-visited area of the Serengeti ecosystem.
This day is designed to be family-friendly, with game drive durations and activities paced to keep children engaged and comfortable. The open plains and shaded rest stops provide opportunities for kids to spot animals and learn about the ecosystem in an accessible way.
As the afternoon winds down, you will return to your lodge or camp to relax and enjoy dinner while reflecting on your first encounters with the Serengeti’s abundant wildlife.
