Your 7 Day Private Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route Climb begins in Moshi, where we meet for a briefing and equipment check before travelling to the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro. After the drive to Londorossi Gate, we complete the required registration and park procedures before continuing to the Lemosho trailhead.
The first part of the trek leads into lush montane rainforest. Tall trees form a canopy overhead, while ferns, moss, and forest plants cover the trail edges. The atmosphere is cool and refreshing, and you may hear birds calling from the trees or spot black-and-white colobus monkeys in the canopy. I encourage you to begin slowly, settle into a comfortable rhythm, and enjoy the forest instead of rushing ahead.
As your KiliPori Safaris guide, I will introduce the walking pace we use throughout the private Kilimanjaro climb. We take care on roots and damp ground, drink water regularly, and make sure everyone feels comfortable before continuing. The aim is to begin the Lemosho Route with energy and confidence rather than exhausting yourself on the first day.
We arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp, also called Big Tree Camp, where the mountain crew prepares the campsite and meals. After settling in, take time to rest and enjoy the peaceful forest surroundings. We discuss the following day's route and the importance of listening to your body as we gain altitude.
