9-Day August Tanzania Private Photography Safari | Great Migration & Serengeti

Breakfast & Ngorongoro Departure
After breakfast, we drive from Karatu to the Ngorongoro Crater entrance area, usually around 30–45 minutes. We descend into the crater for a morning wildlife drive before continuing toward Serengeti.

Ngorongoro Crater Photography
The crater provides opportunities to photograph lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, zebras and other wildlife within its enclosed ecosystem. We allow time for photography while maintaining responsible viewing distances and following park regulations.

Drive to Central Serengeti
After the crater experience and a suitable lunch stop, we continue toward Central Serengeti. The drive from the crater area to Central Serengeti is approximately 3–4 hours, excluding wildlife stops, meals and road conditions.

Early Morning Game Drive
After breakfast, we begin an early game drive through Central Serengeti. Morning light can provide strong photography conditions for wildlife activity, landscapes and predator-prey interactions.

Migration & Wildlife Photography
We spend much of the day following current wildlife activity rather than covering unnecessary distances. Our guide uses field observations to determine where to spend more time, while keeping the vehicle positioned responsibly around wildlife.

Afternoon Photography
After lunch, we continue exploring Central Serengeti and gradually assess movement toward the northern migration zone. The timing of the day's return is flexible within park regulations, allowing you to make the most of useful photographic conditions.

Breakfast & Northern Departure
After breakfast, we leave Central Serengeti and travel north following the current location of the migration. The direct driving time toward the northern area is generally around 3–4 hours, but the actual journey can take longer because this is a game-viewing route rather than a direct transfer.

En-Route Photography
We use the journey north as a full safari experience, stopping for wildlife and landscape photography when appropriate. The route and timing are adjusted according to current field conditions.

Northern Serengeti Arrival
By the afternoon, we reach the Northern Serengeti migration zone. This area is important for photographers visiting during August because migrating herds may be moving around the Mara River region, although their exact position changes naturally.

Early Morning Game Drive
After breakfast, we head into Northern Serengeti for a full day focused on the Serengeti wildebeest migration. We monitor fresh field information and tracks to identify areas where the herds are currently concentrated.

Mara River Viewing Areas
Our guide selects suitable viewing areas near the Mara River based on current animal movement. A Mara River crossing may occur during this period, but we never guarantee a crossing because wildebeest can change direction, remain on one side of the river or cross at locations and times that cannot be predicted precisely.

Patient Photography
For photography, we allow time to wait rather than repeatedly moving between vehicles and locations. We maintain appropriate distances, avoid blocking animal routes and follow responsible wildlife-viewing practices around the river.

Breakfast & Early Game Drive
After breakfast, we return to the Northern Serengeti plains. Our guide checks current conditions before deciding which areas offer the most useful opportunities for migration and wildlife photography.

Wildebeest & Predator Photography
The northern migration zone can provide opportunities to photograph large concentrations of wildebeest and other wildlife associated with the herds. Predator sightings are possible but never guaranteed, so our focus remains on the broader wildlife activity rather than one specific encounter.

Mara River Area
We spend additional time around appropriate Mara River safari viewing areas if current herd movement indicates activity nearby. We do not crowd the riverbank or position the vehicle where it could interfere with animals attempting to cross.

Breakfast & Flexible Morning Drive
After breakfast, we set out for another flexible photography-focused game drive. Since migration movement is not fixed, our guide decides whether to revisit the Mara River area or explore another promising section of Northern Serengeti.

Migration Tracking
We follow current signs of herd movement, including concentrations of wildebeest and other grazing animals. Spending another full day in the region increases your time available for photography without guaranteeing that a river crossing or specific wildlife encounter will take place.

Afternoon Northern Serengeti Drive
The afternoon is dedicated to photography in the areas offering the best combination of wildlife activity, light and positioning. Breakfast & Departure
After breakfast, we begin travelling south from Northern Serengeti through the Central Serengeti plains. The transfer takes approximately 4–5 hours of driving, excluding game-viewing, photography, meal and comfort stops.

Central Serengeti Game Viewing
Rather than treating the route as a simple transfer, we continue with wildlife viewing where conditions allow. Your private vehicle gives us flexibility to stop for suitable photographic opportunities without the fixed schedule of a shared safari.

Serengeti to Karatu
We continue toward Karatu after the Serengeti game drive. From Central Serengeti to Karatu, allow approximately 3–4 hours of driving, depending on the exact route, road conditions and stops.

Breakfast & Crater Route
After breakfast, we depart Karatu and travel toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The drive to the crater area is approximately 30–45 minutes, followed by the planned crater experience and descent depending on the day's schedule.

Ngorongoro Wildlife Photography
We enjoy a final wildlife photography session in the crater, where conditions can provide opportunities to photograph lions, buffalo, elephants, hippos, zebras and other wildlife. As throughout the safari, sightings and animal behaviour remain natural and cannot be guaranteed.

Return to Arusha
After the crater experience and lunch, we drive from the Ngorongoro area back to Arusha, generally around 4–5 hours depending on the route and road conditions. This transfer time excludes meal, comfort and wildlife-viewing stops.
