10 Days August Tanzania Private Safari | Northern Circuit & Great Migration

Breakfast & Crater Departure
After breakfast, we drive toward the Ngorongoro Crater. The access journey from Karatu is approximately 35–45 km, depending on the selected access route.

Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive
We descend into the crater for several hours of wildlife viewing. The crater's different habitats provide opportunities to see lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, zebras, wildebeest and other wildlife.

Lunch & Afternoon Exploration
We enjoy lunch during the crater excursion before continuing with wildlife viewing. Game-drive time, lunch and comfort stops are separate from direct driving estimates.

Breakfast & Departure
After breakfast, we leave Karatu and travel toward Serengeti through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The journey to Central Serengeti is approximately 150–170 km and around 4–5 hours of direct driving, depending on the route and road conditions.

Entering Serengeti
Once inside Serengeti, the transfer becomes part of the safari. We can stop for wildlife encountered along the route instead of treating the journey as a direct transfer.

Afternoon Game Drive
We explore Central Serengeti in the afternoon, looking for lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras and other resident wildlife. Our guide selects the route according to current conditions.

Breakfast & Morning Safari
After breakfast, we begin a morning game drive while travelling north. This allows us to continue viewing wildlife instead of using the entire day as a simple transfer.

Drive Toward Northern Serengeti
The journey from Central to Northern Serengeti is approximately 150–170 km and around 4–5 hours of direct driving. The actual journey can be longer because wildlife stops, photography, lunch and comfort breaks are not included in the direct driving estimate.

Migration Tracking
As we approach Northern Serengeti, our guide begins monitoring current wildebeest and zebra movement. August is a key period for planning around Northern Serengeti and possible Mara River activity, but the exact herd location is naturally variable.

Breakfast & Early Game Drive
After breakfast, we start an early Northern Serengeti Great Migration game drive. Our guide reviews recent field observations and selects the areas where migration activity appears most promising.

Wildebeest & Zebra Movement
We follow the herds where conditions allow, while also looking for predators and resident wildlife. We do not assume that the herds will remain in one location because rainfall and grazing conditions influence their movement.

Mara River Area
When current herd movement makes it appropriate, we explore areas around the Mara River. We maintain responsible viewing distances and avoid blocking natural animal routes; a river crossing may occur, but it cannot be scheduled or guaranteed.

Breakfast & Morning Migration Drive
After breakfast, we dedicate the day to following migration activity in Northern Serengeti. Multiple nights in the area allow us to adjust our location if the herds move rather than depending on one fixed crossing point.

Mara River Exploration
We explore suitable Mara River areas when field conditions indicate that herds may be nearby. Wildebeest can gather along the river for extended periods before moving, and a crossing may happen at another section or not during our stay.

Lunch & Afternoon Safari
We take a comfortable lunch break before continuing with the afternoon game drive. Our private vehicle allows us to remain longer at worthwhile sightings or move when another area offers better current conditions.

Breakfast & Morning Game Drive
After breakfast, we have another full morning to explore Northern Serengeti. Our guide checks the latest available field information before selecting the day's route.

Following Current Herd Movement
We follow promising wildlife areas rather than assuming that the herds will be at yesterday's location. This flexibility is particularly important during migration travel because the animals can move considerably in response to natural conditions.

Afternoon Wildlife Safari
After lunch, we continue with an afternoon game drive, combining migration tracking with Northern Serengeti's resident wildlife. We maintain appropriate distances and avoid unnecessary vehicle congestion around sensitive wildlife areas.

Breakfast & Final Northern Game Drive
After breakfast, we enjoy a final morning game drive in Northern Serengeti before beginning the journey south. Our guide selects the morning route according to current wildlife activity.

Drive to Central Serengeti
We travel approximately 150–170 km and around 4–5 hours of direct driving toward Central Serengeti. The journey time excludes wildlife stops, lunch, photography and comfort breaks.

Central Serengeti Afternoon Safari
We continue with an afternoon game drive around the Seronera area, where resident wildlife can be seen throughout the year. The route remains flexible according to the day's sightings.

Breakfast & Departure
After breakfast, we leave Central Serengeti and begin the journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The direct journey is approximately 150–170 km and around 4–5 hours, excluding wildlife stops and breaks.

Serengeti Wildlife Drive
We continue through Serengeti with opportunities to stop when wildlife is encountered along the route. Our guide can adjust the pace according to current sightings.

Ngorongoro Highlands
We leave the Serengeti ecosystem and continue toward Karatu through the Ngorongoro highlands. The journey can take longer than the direct estimate because of road conditions, weather and agreed stops.

Breakfast & Departure
After breakfast, we leave Karatu for Arusha. The journey is approximately 160–170 km and around 3–3.5 hours of direct driving, excluding traffic and comfort stops.

Return Through Northern Tanzania
We travel through the northern Tanzanian highlands toward Arusha. If your departure schedule allows, we can make a suitable stop for refreshments before continuing.

Arrival in Arusha
We arrive in Arusha and transfer you to your preferred hotel, airport or agreed drop-off location.

Safari Completion
Your 10 Days August Tanzania Private Safari ends after the private transfer, completing a Northern Circuit route through Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti, with extended time in Northern Serengeti for the Great Migration and possible Mara River activity.
