5-Day August Tanzania Safari from Zanzibar | Fly to Serengeti & Ngorongoro

Breakfast & Morning Game Drive
After breakfast, we begin a morning game drive in Central Serengeti before heading north. The drive toward Northern Serengeti can take approximately 4–5 hours depending on the route, wildlife sightings and road conditions, and this is not continuous driving time because game-viewing stops are included.

Journey Toward Northern Serengeti
We gradually move toward the migration zone while looking for wildebeest, zebra and resident predators along the way. Our guide uses current field information to determine whether the herds are moving toward the north or remaining in another part of the ecosystem.

Northern Serengeti Arrival
As we reach the Northern Serengeti, we begin monitoring areas around Kogatende and the Mara River where appropriate. A private Serengeti safari gives us the flexibility to spend more time in promising wildlife areas rather than following a fixed group route.

Breakfast & Early Game Drive
After breakfast, we leave early for a full day in the Northern Serengeti. Our guide checks current herd positions and recent sightings before choosing the day's route.

Mara River Migration Area
If wildebeest are gathering around the Mara River, we spend time in suitable viewing areas where a crossing may potentially occur. Crossings are unpredictable, so we never promise that one will happen during the safari.

Responsible Wildlife Viewing
Our vehicle remains at a responsible distance and avoids blocking wildlife movement or potential crossing routes. If the herds are not near the river, we explore other parts of Northern Serengeti where wildlife activity is stronger.

Breakfast & Final Northern Serengeti Game Drive
After breakfast, we take a final game drive as we begin leaving Northern Serengeti. The exact route depends on wildlife conditions, but we allow time for additional sightings before continuing south.

Serengeti to Ngorongoro
The journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area takes approximately 5–6 hours of driving depending on the route and road conditions. This travel time excludes wildlife stops, photography, meals and comfort breaks.

Ngorongoro Highlands
We continue through the changing landscape from the Serengeti plains toward the Ngorongoro highlands. Depending on arrival time, we can enjoy views around the conservation area before continuing to Karatu.

Breakfast & Crater Descent
After an early breakfast, we drive to the Ngorongoro Crater and descend onto the crater floor for a morning game drive. The drive from Karatu to the crater area is approximately 30–45 minutes, excluding park-entry procedures.

Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive
We explore the crater floor for several hours, looking for lions, elephants, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, hippos and other wildlife. The crater provides a different wildlife environment from the open Serengeti plains.

Return to Arusha
After the crater visit, we ascend and begin the journey toward Arusha Airport. The drive from the Ngorongoro area to Arusha generally takes around 3–4 hours, excluding lunch, comfort stops and traffic delays.

Flight to Zanzibar
At Arusha Airport, board your scheduled flight to Zanzibar. Your 5-Day August Tanzania Safari from Zanzibar ends upon arrival in Zanzibar, leaving you free to continue your beach holiday or onward travel.
