7 Days August Tanzania Private Safari | Great Migration, Serengeti and Ngorongoro

Breakfast & Departure
After breakfast, we depart Karatu and travel toward Serengeti through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The journey toward Central Serengeti is approximately 150–170 km and 4–5 hours of direct driving, excluding park procedures, comfort stops, meals and wildlife viewing.

Ngorongoro Highlands Transit
We cross the highlands and continue toward the Serengeti plains. As we approach Serengeti, the landscape opens into the grasslands where wildlife viewing begins to become a major part of the journey.

Afternoon Central Serengeti Game Drive
After entering Serengeti, we continue toward the Seronera area with an afternoon game drive. Our guide checks current wildlife activity and may follow resident predators, elephants, giraffes and other wildlife while also observing any signs of migrating herds.

Breakfast & Northbound Departure
After breakfast, we leave Central Serengeti and begin travelling north toward the Northern Serengeti Great Migration zone. The direct transfer is approximately 120–150 km and 3–4 hours, excluding game viewing, comfort stops and road-condition delays.

Wildlife Along the Northern Route
We continue with wildlife viewing as we travel north rather than treating the transfer as a simple point-to-point drive. Our guide monitors current herd movement and adjusts the route where conditions make another area more promising.

Northern Serengeti Arrival
By afternoon, we reach the northern sector and begin exploring areas where wildebeest and zebra may currently be concentrated. August is an important period for following migration activity toward the Mara River, but herd location can change naturally.

Early Breakfast & Morning Game Drive
After an early breakfast, we set out for a full-day August Serengeti safari focused on current migration activity. With a private vehicle, we can leave early and adjust the day's schedule according to herd movement and wildlife conditions.

Mara River Search
Our guide monitors the latest field conditions and identifies suitable areas around the Mara River. Wildebeest may approach the river, gather on the banks, cross at different points or move away, so a Mara River crossing is always a possibility rather than a guaranteed sighting.

Responsible River Viewing
If herds gather near a potential crossing point, we wait patiently and maintain appropriate distance from the animals. We do not crowd wildlife or position the vehicle where it could block a natural crossing route; our approach follows responsible viewing principles outlined in our Mara River migration safety guide.

Breakfast & Morning Departure
After breakfast, we head out again for a full day of wildlife viewing in the Northern Serengeti. Having another full day in the area gives our guide flexibility to respond to changing herd movement rather than relying on a predetermined crossing schedule.

Migration Tracking
We use current field observations and local knowledge to decide whether to remain near the Mara River or explore other promising areas of the northern plains. The herds can move according to rainfall, grazing conditions and water availability.

Wildlife & Predator Viewing
Beyond wildebeest and zebra, the Northern Serengeti can provide opportunities to see lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes and other wildlife. We allow enough time at worthwhile sightings while maintaining responsible distances from animals.

Breakfast & Southbound Departure
After breakfast, we leave Northern Serengeti and begin travelling south toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The journey is approximately 200–220 km and 5–6 hours of direct driving, excluding wildlife viewing, meals, comfort stops and weather-related delays.

Serengeti Wildlife En Route
We continue through Serengeti with opportunities for wildlife viewing along the route. Because this is a private safari, our guide can make suitable stops when wildlife activity is worthwhile without following the timetable of a shared vehicle.

Ngorongoro Highlands
We continue through the Ngorongoro highlands and arrive in the Karatu area later in the day. The evening is kept relaxed so you are rested for the following morning's Ngorongoro Crater game drive.

Early Breakfast & Crater Descent
After an early breakfast, we drive from Karatu to the Ngorongoro Crater gate and descend into the crater for a morning game drive. The crater provides opportunities to see lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos and large numbers of grazing animals within its enclosed ecosystem.

Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive
We spend several hours exploring the crater floor with your private guide, allowing time for wildlife observation and photography. Game-drive timing depends on wildlife activity, road conditions and the pace that works best for you.

Lunch & Ascent
After the crater game drive, we ascend and begin the return journey to Arusha. The drive from the Ngorongoro area to Arusha is approximately 190 km and 3.5–4.5 hours of direct driving, excluding lunch, comfort stops, traffic and weather-related delays.

Arrival in Arusha
We arrive in Arusha in the late afternoon or early evening, concluding your 7 Days August 2027 Tanzania private safari after exploring Tarangire, the Serengeti wildebeest migration, Northern Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater.
