Breakfast and departure: Enjoy an early breakfast before leaving Karatu for Central Serengeti. The journey through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and into Serengeti takes approximately 5–6 hours of driving, excluding game viewing, meals, comfort stops and weather-related delays.

Scenic wildlife transfer: As you enter the Serengeti ecosystem, the transfer becomes a game drive, with chances to see Maasai giraffes, zebras, gazelles and predators along the way. Your guide will choose the best route according to current wildlife conditions in 2027.

Central Serengeti game drive: Spend the afternoon exploring the Seronera area, known for year-round resident wildlife, kopjes and strong big-cat habitat. This area adds excellent general game viewing to your Serengeti migration safari 2027.

Morning game drive: After breakfast, enjoy an early game drive through Central Serengeti before continuing north. Morning is often a rewarding time for active predators, grazing herds and birdlife.

Drive north through Serengeti: Travel from Central Serengeti to Northern Serengeti, a driving distance of approximately 4–5 hours excluding game viewing, lunch, comfort and photographic stops. The landscape gradually opens into the remote northern plains and woodland near Kogatende.

Northern Serengeti arrival: Begin exploring the Northern Serengeti Great Migration area, following the latest herd movements toward the Mara River. Early breakfast: Start the day with breakfast at camp before heading out for a flexible morning game drive. Your private schedule lets your family leave early, return for a rest or extend time in the field depending on the day’s sightings.

Mara River safari: Explore the riverine woodland, open plains and likely herd gathering areas near the Mara River. From around July to October, this region is commonly associated with a possible Mara River crossing, but the timing depends entirely on rainfall and herd movement.

Patient, respectful viewing: If herds are near the river, we wait at an appropriate distance and let wildlife dictate the experience. Our guides monitor movement throughout the day and may change locations to improve your viewing opportunities while keeping children comfortable with snack, toilet and stretch stops.

Morning game drive: After breakfast, set out again across Northern Serengeti, where large wildebeest and zebra herds may move between grazing areas and the Mara River. Your guide will explain the migration cycle in a safe, age-appropriate way that makes the day engaging for children.

Migration and predator tracking: Follow fresh tracks, alarm calls and current reports to search for wildlife activity around the river and surrounding plains. Depending on natural conditions, you may see herds gathering, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, elephants or colourful birdlife, though sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Picnic lunch in the bush: Enjoy a packed picnic lunch at a designated scenic location, allowing more time in the migration area instead of returning to camp mid-day. Your guide will plan the afternoon around herd movement, weather and your family’s preferred pace.

Breakfast and final northern game drive: After breakfast, enjoy a final morning drive in the Mara River safari area. The guide will check current migration reports before starting the southbound route, giving your family the best possible use of the morning.

Drive to Central Serengeti: Continue south to Central Serengeti, approximately 4–5 hours of driving excluding wildlife viewing, lunch and comfort stops. This is still a safari day, with open savannah and kopjes offering regular chances for game viewing.

Early departure from Central Serengeti: After an early breakfast, leave Central Serengeti and travel toward Ngorongoro Crater. The drive to the crater descent area is approximately 3–4 hours, excluding game viewing, comfort and meal stops.

Ngorongoro Crater safari: Descend 600 metres into the crater for a full game drive across its grasslands, forest and soda lake areas. The crater is home to dense wildlife populations and may offer opportunities to see buffalo, lions, hippos, elephants, zebras and, with luck, black rhino.

Drive to Karatu: After a picnic lunch and afternoon game viewing, ascend from the crater and continue to Karatu, around 45–60 minutes away. This overnight location provides a calm, family-friendly finish after a full wildlife day.

Relaxed breakfast: Enjoy breakfast at the lodge and a final morning to pack, relax in the gardens or share your favourite safari moments as a family.

Return drive to Arusha: Leave Karatu for Arusha, a journey of approximately 3–3.5 hours excluding comfort, lunch and traffic-related stops. Your driver-guide can plan a convenient stop along the way if travelling with children.
