9-Day August Tanzania Private Great Migration Safari | Serengeti and Ngorongoro

Breakfast & Departure
After breakfast, we leave Karatu and travel toward Serengeti through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The journey toward Central Serengeti is approximately 150–170 km and around 4–5 hours of direct driving, depending on the route and road conditions.

Entering Serengeti
As we enter Serengeti National Park, the journey becomes part of the safari, with wildlife viewing possible along the route. Our guide adjusts the pace when wildlife activity makes a stop worthwhile.

Afternoon Game Drive
We continue with an afternoon game drive in Central Serengeti, looking for resident wildlife including lions, elephants, buffalo, giraffes and zebras. The route is selected according to current wildlife conditions rather than a fixed schedule.

Breakfast & Departure
After breakfast, we begin our journey north toward the main migration area. The distance is approximately 100–150 km and around 3–4 hours of direct driving, depending on the lodge location and route selected.

Wildlife Drive North
The journey through Serengeti is combined with wildlife viewing, so the actual travel period can be longer than the direct driving estimate. Stops for animals, photography, lunch and comfort are not included in the stated driving time.

Northern Serengeti Arrival
As we approach Northern Serengeti, our guide begins monitoring current wildebeest and zebra movement. In August, herds may be moving through the northern ecosystem, but their exact position changes naturally.

Breakfast & Early Game Drive
After breakfast, we begin an early game drive in Northern Serengeti. Our guide reviews current field conditions and recent herd movement before deciding which areas to explore.

Following the Migration
We search for concentrations of wildebeest and zebra while also watching for predators that may be active around the herds. The migration does not follow a fixed timetable, so our route remains flexible throughout the day.

Mara River Viewing
If current conditions indicate that herds are near the Mara River, we move toward suitable viewing areas and wait patiently. A Mara River crossing cannot be guaranteed, and we never crowd animals, block crossing routes or pressure wildlife to cross.

Breakfast & Morning Safari
After breakfast, we continue our Northern Serengeti Great Migration experience with another full day in the region. Having several days here allows our guide to respond to changing herd movements rather than relying on one expected location.

Migration & Wildlife Tracking
We explore different wildlife areas according to current conditions, looking for wildebeest, zebra, lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants and other species. Sightings depend entirely on natural wildlife behaviour and cannot be guaranteed.

Mara River Safari
Where appropriate, we spend time near the Mara River watching for herd movement. Our private vehicle gives us the flexibility to remain in a suitable area when conditions are promising while maintaining responsible viewing distances. Breakfast & Morning Game Drive
After breakfast, we enjoy a final morning game drive in Northern Serengeti before beginning the journey south. Our guide uses current wildlife conditions to determine the best route toward Central Serengeti.

Drive Through Serengeti
We travel approximately 100–150 km and around 3–4 hours of direct driving toward Central Serengeti. Because this is still a wildlife area, the journey may take longer when we stop for animals, photography, lunch or comfort breaks.

Afternoon Central Serengeti Safari
After reaching Central Serengeti, we continue with an afternoon game drive. This area supports resident wildlife throughout the year, so the safari remains productive even after leaving the main migration zone.

Breakfast & Departure
After breakfast, we leave Central Serengeti and drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The journey is approximately 150–170 km and around 4–5 hours of direct driving, excluding wildlife stops, lunch and comfort breaks.

Ngorongoro Crater Descent
We descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive across the crater floor. The crater's varied habitats provide opportunities to see lions, buffalo, elephants, hippos, zebras, wildebeest and other wildlife.

Crater Game Drive
We spend several hours exploring the crater before ascending toward the highlands. The amount of time spent viewing wildlife is separate from the estimated direct driving time.

Breakfast & Highland Drive
After breakfast, we enjoy a relaxed morning around Karatu and the Ngorongoro highlands. This provides a slower day after several intensive Serengeti game drives.

Optional Cultural Experience
Depending on your interests, we can arrange a suitable local cultural experience or a guided visit in the Karatu area. Activities are kept flexible so you can also choose to rest at the lodge.

Afternoon Relaxation
Return to the lodge for lunch and a relaxed afternoon. You can use the time to review photographs, enjoy the lodge facilities or prepare for the return journey to Arusha.

Breakfast & Departure
After breakfast, we leave Karatu for Arusha. The journey is approximately 160–170 km and around 3–3.5 hours of direct driving, excluding comfort stops and traffic delays.

Return Journey
We travel through the northern Tanzanian highlands toward Arusha. If your schedule allows, we can make a suitable stop along the way for refreshments or a final look at the surrounding landscape.

Arrival in Arusha
We arrive in Arusha and transfer you to your preferred hotel, airport or agreed drop-off point. Your private safari ends after the transfer.

Safari Completion
This completes your 9-Day August Tanzania Private Great Migration Safari, combining Tarangire, extended time in Northern Serengeti, the Serengeti wildebeest migration, possible Mara River crossing activity and Ngorongoro.
