6-Day Family Migration Safari in Tanzania | March Calving Season, Ndutu & Central Serengeti

Morning Game Drive in Ndutu After morning tea, you will head out for your main Ndutu calving season safari. This is a wonderful time to look for large herds of wildebeest and their young calves that often gather here in March.

Picnic Lunch in the Wild To keep the kids happy and out of the hot sun, we will set up a nice picnic lunch under the shade of a large tree. If the children feel tired, we can easily go back to camp for a few hours, as the best time to visit Ndutu for active wildlife is usually early morning or late afternoon.

Late Afternoon Drive When the air cools down in the late afternoon, we will go out again to search for predators like cheetahs and lions. We make sure to return to camp before dark so you can have dinner and get the kids to bed on time.

Morning Drive to Serengeti We will leave Ndutu after breakfast and drive toward the center of Serengeti National Park. The distance is only about 80 kilometers, but we will take two to three hours driving slowly to spot animals along the way.

Exploring the Seronera Area This central area has a lot of water, so it attracts many different animals, and we will look out for hippos and crocodiles. Your guide will park the car at a safe distance so the children can watch and learn about the wildlife comfortably.

Relaxing at the New Camp By late afternoon, we will arrive at your new tented camp in the Central Serengeti. The family can share a nice dinner together while your guide tells the kids fun stories about the bush.

Morning Wildlife Search Today you will spend the whole day exploring the vast Serengeti National Park safari landscapes, starting early when animals are most active. Because you are on a Tanzania private safari, you can ask the guide to stop and watch your favorite animals for as long as you want without feeling rushed.

Camp Lunch and Rest To keep the children's energy up, we will return to the camp for a hot lunch instead of staying out in the heat. This gives the family a chance to avoid the hot midday sun and lets the kids take a short nap.

Short Evening Drive In the evening, we will do a short drive near the camp to see animals coming to drink from the nearby rivers. We will come back early so you can shower, eat dinner in peace, and get ready for the next day.

Final Serengeti Drive We will enjoy one last morning drive in the Serengeti as we make our way toward the exit gate. This journey takes us out of the plains and up into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, covering about 140 kilometers over three to four hours.

Lunch and Stretching When we find a safe and scenic spot, we will stop to eat our packed lunches and let the kids use the restrooms. We keep the driving pace slow and steady to make sure everyone is comfortable on the road.

Reaching the Highlands In the late afternoon, we will arrive at your lodge located inside the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The air is cooler up here in the highlands, so the family can sit nicely by the indoor fire while waiting for dinner.

Morning Crater Descent Early in the morning, we will drive 600 meters down into the Ngorongoro Crater floor. This is a beautiful, enclosed space that makes a Ngorongoro Crater safari very easy for kids, as we can often spot rhinos, lions, and many birds close by without driving too far.

Climbing Out and Driving Back After a few hours of driving around the crater floor, we will drive back up the steep walls and begin our trip to Arusha. The 190-kilometer drive is on smooth, paved roads and takes about three to four hours.

Arriving in Arusha We will reach Arusha town by early afternoon, where we will drop your family off at your hotel or the airport for your next flight. This brings your safe and fun family trip to a close.
